Pine Tree Removal

Pine Tree Removal - Pine Tree Professionals Ogden Utah

It’s not everyday in Ogden you see a tree of this maturity. This is one of those Pine tree removal projects when you first look at you go “whoa!, this could of turned out bad”. I believe the tree was a “Scotts Pine” or “Ponderosa”. regardless it was 50 foot tall pine tree removal project with one big problem. It has a Co-Dominant split where the tree takes a couple different directions. The issue is at the first split, it has what we call Tree Bark Inclusion.

As a result, during September 2020 windstorm this Pine tree removal project stems from a split at the junction of the first crotch. During the windstorm, the homeowner watched the two main legs split at the bark inclusion. He stated “The tree separated with each gust of wind and joined back together with 4 inches of play”. This is scary! If you ever have a tree that is giving play in the ground, splitting in the middle, or crotch, then you should consult a professional.

The “AHA” moment. Each year a tree puts on a new growth ring of the tree. When there is a Co Dominant split, the tree is separated by the bark inclusion and is now creating two growth rings on each big leg causing them to push each other apart. This pine tree removal is easily identifiable project. The left leg having the weaker of the two legs on the left side of the following video. As each year of new growth rings form , the pressure pushes them apart. This would cause it to break, and in this case, would be in the direction of the house.

Preventative Tree Maintenance

Many blame acts of god for a crisis of this nature which is what will happen with insurance tree claims. The reality is they will say it was lack of maintenance or some jargon that is a big run around with a less than desirable outcome.

Fortunately our customer had recognized the danger and removed this tree before bigger problems occurred. Pine Tree Removals are necessary when the root balls have given way. The tree has a “bad looking” split.

Pine Tree Removal Professionals

There is a definite skillset required as a tree professional to be confident to complete jobs of this stature. Pat has been around the block a time or two and is an expert. The biggest difference between us and the competition for this job is we don’t need heavy equipment to complete the job for this one. Tree guys will start talking about cranes and boom lifts or bucket trucks. Last September windstorm we hired cleanup crews behind us were averaging 8-12 pine trees a day! You’ll see $3,000 trees like this one turn into $1,700-$2,000 like this one when you choose our bid. It just pays to get the guys that know what they are doing.

This was a simple Pine tree removal and considered a 3 man job for a tree crew that knows what they are doing. We saved this customer $300 by keeping the wood and he turned around and told us he sold the wood for $150. Normally it would have been a $2,000 job, but we did both tree and stump for $1,700. He stated he had bids for over double. For the record this was one of the tallest trees in the neighborhood so we call it a Glory Tree. The Glory Trees usually come with a discount, because we received two other jobs just from people seeing us do this one.

Professional Stump Grinding

The ability to grind out stumps is what often sets us apart from a lot of guys that claim to be tree professionals. You can often tell who has skin in the game as a professional if they own something simple as a stump grinder, because a good one is price of a nice new car even in used condition. You could rent a grinder for a stump like this for 4 hours for maybe $250, but it’s easier to have us grind it and clean it up and have no labor or hassle involved for $300 for stump like this.

The video here is cut short. Skyler stacked a piece of wood right in the cameras time lapse, but you can catch a glimpse of the first pass getting 4 inches below grade. The second pass we typically take it 8 inches, while the stump grinder has a max depth of 10 inches. Call 385-333-6626 for any Pine Tree Removal projects.
