Have you ever tried to use Arborist Mulch or Wood Chips for your garden? The good news is, you can!
Chipped Trees as mulch
For years people have said don’t use arborist mulch or wood chips (the kind made from tree removal services) because they would spread disease or insects. While this can be true, we offer a service that is only desirable Arborist mulch to our clients for delivery. For $50 we will deliver anywhere in Weber County a full load of mulch. 3 cubic yards is what we deliver.
Tree type to avoid for planting mulch
Some trees have an acidity that will be too much for a garden until it has already composted. Trees like walnuts contain a chemical that is a defense mechanism for dominance that causes other plants from growing well. In general though, majority of wood types in Utah is ideal for mulch and wood chips.
Avoid mulch from
- Walnuts
- Pine
- Russian Olive
What about Bugs?
Most Insects won’t survive the chipping and shredding process. Bugs tend to like old rotting lumber and wood. The only danger in Utah is the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle. We are experts in disposing of these infestations properly and sanitize our chip truck, chainsaws, and poles afterwards.
Alternatives to Ogden’s Arborist Mulch
You can pay $25 for 1 cubic yard (a pickup truck) of great compost at Ogden City Green Waste Disposal Site if you decide to go another route.
